White Bean Soup with Smoked Ham

Pantry staples such as beans and smoked meats are traditionally featured in the soups and stews of cold-weather months. In this recipe, a trio of hearty autumn herbs flavors the beans as they cook. Corn bread makes a good accompaniment.

Very tasty soup
May 20, 2011
I recently made this (omitting the mint) and it was one of the tastiest ham and bean soups I've ever tasted. Easy to make but the results are outstanding
Pros: Yield, Good Value, Will Make Again

Best Bean Soup
January 13, 2011
This is the best bean and ham soup I have ever tasted. I make it all the time, and it isn't salty at all when using low sodium stock. Of course, I didn't add any salt either since the smoked ham provides enough. Also, I use canned cannellini beans and chopped smoked ham to make it less labor intensive, and it works great. Have shared this recipe with several others who asked for the recipe. Everyone loves it.

Very Salty
October 3, 2010
Easy to make but very, very salty. Had to add 6 cups of water at the end to lessen salty taste. I even used reduced sodium chicken broth.
