Cherry syrup is delicious drizzled over this vanilla gelato, and it can also be swirled into the gelato during the final stage of freezing. Use about 1/3 cup syrup.

the perfect ice cream

I have made this recipe for several years now. we just finished a batch last night.
I use this as my base recipe for all my ice cream variations. Guests always comment how good this ice tastes and friends sometimes even ask "are we having icecream tonight?" I have found it works best if i cool the custard for 24 hours.
