Spiced Pear Upside-Down Cake

The intense flavor of cloves is best when used in small amounts. In this recipe, just a touch of cloves complements the other more mellow spices as well as the brown sugar and maple syrup. As they bake, the sliced pears release sweet juices that mingle with the aromatic spices and soak into the rich, buttery cake.

So very delicious. It turned out beautifully and was quite easy to make.
I substituted 1/4t Nutmeg for the 1t cardemom (not something I stock in my cupboard).
It took about 75min to bake, around 50min I covered the cake with aluminum foil because the top was browning faster than the cake was baking.
Pros: Impressive, Will Make Again
