Smokey, gummy, a bit of work

Prior to adding the bread, the flavor was promising. However, without knowing how many ounces of bread "6 slices country-style bread, 1 inch thick" was, we must have had a BIG loaf...adding all that bread made a thick gooey mass of formerly tasty (but thin) tomato soup base. Will definitely smoke tomatoes but will use them in a more reliable recipe.

Better Than an Average Soup

WOW...this is an incredible recipe. I thought I had the best recipe for tomato soup, but this is right up there.
Prepares into a rich, creamy comforting soup with jsut the right smokey taste. It takes a little longer to prepare, but well worth the effort.
I will make this one over and over.

Anytime Soup

This smokey tomato soup is great anytime. My husband and I have enjoyed this with grilled cheese sandwiches, however, we have also prepared it as the first course of a full dinner menu. The texture and flavor is outstanding. This soup is also great the next day or later in the week.
