English Scones

Serve these fine scones with strawberry jam or a berry butter. If you like, add no more than 1/2 cup chopped plumped dried apricots, whole raisins, chopped crystallized ginger or semisweet chocolate morsels to the dough just before kneading. Fresh blueberries, dried cranberries, or chopped walnuts or pecans are also good additions.

Perfect texture
August 5, 2012
I made this recipe using non-dairy butter (Earth Balance) and almond milk (dairy allergy). It still worked perfectly! Absolutely perfect scone texture. I also added 1/3 c frozen blueberries that had been given a few minutes a partially thaw. This yielded six (6) large scones for me.
Pros: Quick, Easy, Appearance, Adaptable

Very tasty and satisfying.

I love to make these scones because they are not only yummy but they always turn out perfectly. They're best served warm with jam, butter, or cream. I plan to add cranberries or another fruit or nut the next go round.

Reliable Scone recipe
April 30, 2010
I have many scone recipes, since I have Irish heritage and we love scones with tea.
I use this recipe often and it makes really good scones. I even used this recipe for a brunch and served them with real clotted cream and various fruit preserves and they were wonderful.
