Zwilling J.A. Henckels Pure Chef's Knife with Cutting Board

With the help of renowned Italian architect, Matteo Thun, this knife was developed as an innovative yet down-to-earth knife for every day work. This chef's knife is a necessity for chopping vegetables, mincing herbs and slicing fruit. It comes with a handsome Beech wood cutting board. The set makes a fine gift or a useful addition to your own cutlery collection. Each knife is precision forged using Zwilling's Sigmaforge process resulting in an exceptionally hard yet flexible blade. Zwilling's Fridour ice-hardening technique results in a harder, sharper blade that is corrosion resistant and highly elastic. Precise lasers are used to ensure each blade's edge is at the optimal cutting angle for maximum sharpness. A curved and recessed bolster provides a seamless transition from handle to blade and supports the thumb for better balance and safety. The ergonomic soft polypropylene handle is impact resistant providing a comfortable, steady grip. The knife is made in Germany by Zwilling J.A. Henckels since 1731. The cutting board is made of Beech wood with end grain construction that adds strength and resistance and is gentle on knives. Coated with a non-lacquered finish. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

Great knife, bad cutting board
September 9, 2012
The knife is great, my only complaint is the cutting board. Straight out of the box we wiped it down with soap and a sponge and 1/2 of the finish came off. Unfortunately that lead to the wood absorbing anything cut on it and made it hard to clean and grew mold so we had to toss it :(
Kinda bummed it looked really nice when we purchased it.

Care for Cutting Board
As with any wood cutting board, you must allow it to dry completely after washing before stowing it away in a closed cabinet. Never soak it in water and don't wash it in the dishwasher. Actually, having a "finish" on a cutting board is a not a good thing. (Would you want your food on that?) However, one way to help preserve a wood cutting board is to oil it with mineral oil -- safe for food products and does not turn rancid.

Great knife for a reasonable price. Holds edge well and has an outstanding feel to it during use. The grip and weight are perfect for a larger hand.
Pros: Durable, Quality, Balance, Easy to Clean, Sharpness, Weight
