Williams-Sonoma Zahtar

A favorite throughout North Africa and the Middle East, zahtar is an aromatic mixture of herbs and spices prized for its distinctive zesty flavor. Traditionally, the spice blend is sprinkled over meats and vegetables, or mixed with olive oil to create a savory spread for flatbreads. A classic seasoning blend combining aromatic thyme and rich, earthy toasted sesame seeds. The unique flavor of zahtar makes it an ideal partner for grilled or roasted meats and vegetables. To ensure the most vibrant flavor and aroma, ingredients are individually ground and blended. The premium, all-natural seasonings for our zahtar are sourced from around the world and expertly blended by a family-owned artisanal spice company in Northern California's Napa Valley. 2.1 oz.Made in USA from imported ingredients.

Kinda bland
June 4, 2011
I will still use it, but I prefer Dean & Deluca's Za'atar to this Williams-Sonoma Zahtar. WS makes this one on the bland side without much spice or zing to it. I must admit that I'm new to this spice, so take my opinion with a grain of salt and try it for yourself.
DD's is more red and the little nuts or whatever they are, are much brighter. While WS makes theirs more green and very fine with darker roasted little nuts.
Cons: Texture, Flavor

Absolutely delicious!

This is a delicious and authentic zahtar spice blend. I first tried and fell in love with this spice in Israel, and the Williams-Sonoma blend does not dissapoint! It's great with olive oil as a dipping sauce for bread, on top of chicken, lamb or turkey, sprinkled atop roasted vegetables.
