The Grand Prix II set is made using hard, sharp, forged steel. The seven-piece set includes all the knives I use on a regular basis. The sharpening steel is among the best; a few light passes of a blade along the steel is all that is needed. The paring knife is a perfect length for most small slicing and dicing chores. The block has a few extra large and small slots for adding more Grand Prix II knives if purchased separately. The block that came with my set is well assembled but has minor superficial characteristics that took me a while to get used to. However, it's overall appearance is lovely; it displays the knives in an attractive and serviceable way. I find the red handles of my set helpful because red handles are always plainly visible when stored and in use.
