Wusthof Gourmet Super Slicer

In its seventh-generation of family ownership, Wusthof has been making some of the finest kitchen cutlery in the world since 1814. The Gourmet line features precision stainless-steel blades that resist stains and rust and hold an exceedingly sharp edge. Wusthof's extra-long "super slicer" stands up to the most demanding tasks, from carving roasts to prepping large vegetables to slicing crusty breads and delicate layer cakes. The gently scalloped edge -a reverse of the standard pointed serrations-cuts cleanly without tearing or dragging. Stamped blade is made of high-carbon stainless steel for top performance and durability. Triple-riveted high-impact plastic handle provides a secure, comfortable grip. 10"-long blade; 5 1/4"-long handle; 7 oz. Made in Germany.

Most versatile knife in my whole set
May 19, 2015
I've had a big set of Wusthof knives for 10 years now and this knife gets used the most, it still as good as the day I bought it. The perforation is the key to this knifes cutting ability, not a sharp edge.. It's made for slicing bread, meat, pizza, cakes, you name it.. It truly is super!
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Balance, Easy to Clean, Versatile, Shape, Weight
Cons: Size

Latent defect?
January 3, 2014
I purchased two of these knives just before Thanksgiving to slice homemade No Knead Bread, not a difficult task. After 3 weeks of use, slicing ONLY bread, both knives have lost their edge. To be clear, the edge rolled up, equally across the knife. I have not tried to sharpen either knife as I felt these knives certainly should have lasted longer than 3 weeks before needing sharpening. When I spoke to my local W-S retailer, they suggested I contact Wusthof about this issue. I have not - I'm going to try to return them to the store.
Cons: Quality, Dull, Fragile
