This Lid Gripper works very well, even on the smallest of jars. Today I figured out that it will even remove the underlid of a mason jar that is stuck on after you remove the rim! I think some may forget the old reminder: "Righty Tighty- Lefty Loosee." Maybe an arrow on the top to help those who forget which way the jar opens! Sure Glad I got mine before you stopped making them available!

Excellent Jar Opener

When I first tried to use this jar opener, I thought it was a huge waste of money and was prepared to return it for a refund. Before I took the time to drive the long distance back to Williams Sonoma, I tired it one more time. The jar opener DOES lock into place. Once the teeth are tight on the lid, give the crank a tighter twist, and the opener will lock into place. Opening jars has always been difficult for me, and I have tried other openers. This is the only one that makes opening jars easy. Please try it out!

Needs a Good Locking Mechanism

This is solid and looks great. However, it does not work well. This is a dud. Once you turn the top to make the tool tighten up to the lid, you can't lock it (despite the claims otherwise). When you try to turn the lid gripper, it comes loose and loses its grip. Too bad, this is SO close to being a really great product if only it had a reliable lock.
I will be using mine to hit myself over the head with for losing the receipt. Guess it's mine to keep now.

Cons: Difficult to Use, Temperamental

Would make a good meat tenderizer

Couldn't give 0 stars. The item has a nice mechanism, but, as the other review says, it does not lock in place. For this reason, it loosens when you try to turn it to take the lid off of anything.
On another note, it is nice and heavy and would be great for flattening chicken for cutlets.

poor operation

Grippers do not lock to allow use of handle so it is totally useless, I bought two, one for my use and the other for my 84 year old mother, I guess I through away $80.
Cons: Difficult to Use, Inaccurate

I had the same problem, the idea looked great but you still need someone else to hold the jar while you open it.
