Williams-Sonoma Touchless Tare Glass Scale

You can tare this sleek scale simply by waving your hand over the sensor-no need to press a button with slippery, messy fingers. The easy-to-read digital screen displays weights in 0.1-oz. increments up 11 pounds total, enough capacity for everyday cooking, baking and canning. Thanks to Salter's Aquatronic(R) feature, the scale precisely measures liquid ingredients too, minimizing the need for measuring cups. Exclusive Touchless Tare feature lets you reset to 0 by waving your hand. Large 1" LCD display shows measurements in 0.1-oz. increments up to 11 lb. Aquatronic(R) feature accurately measures liquids in 0.1-fl.-oz. increments up to 176 fl. oz. A single button toggles between U.S. and metric measurements. Easy to weigh multiple ingredients in a single container. Smooth touch-control buttons keep the surface clean-no need to contend with food-clogged grooves. Stain-resistant tempered-glass platform won't absorb flavors or odors, and is easy to clean. Slim design has a roomy surface for accommodating larger bowls or platters. Auto or manual shutoff.

Worked great - until it didn't
March 25, 2015
The first few months I used this scale it performed exactly as advertised. The touchless tare was great and I really liked the smooth surface that you could easily keep clean.
Fast forward a few months past when W-S accepts returns...it stopped turning on. I thought I had just worn out the battery, so I replaced the battery - no go.
I replaced the battery again (sometimes there are dud batteries) - no go.
I tried talking to it, giving it words of encouragement to turn on - no go.
I tried to figure out if there was anything wrong with the moving parts that was preventing it from working - but conveniently all the moving parts are not really accessible.
Of course all of this is after the return window, so I'm left to recycle it and buy a different scale. Too bad.
Pros: Easy to Use, Easy to Clean
Cons: Quality, Fragile
