Just what I needed
June 22, 2014
I often make soups or stews that need to have fat skimmed off the top as they simmer. Since I can't use a regular fat-separator in these cases, I often ended up with hot grease flowing onto the stove top or counter from a spoon I used to transfer the skimmed fat into a jelly jar or other container. Not anymore. This fat-skimming ladle does the job neatly and safely because of the built-in channel for pouring out the fat into a container. One caveat about this channel: it makes the ladle difficult to clean, even in the dishwasher. I have to use a tiny brush to clean the area in and around the channel.
