Great product after some setup issues
November 18, 2014
I had a few issues getting the App and the device to connect via an Apple Time Capsule router. What I discovered was that the thermometer was sometimes grabbing a different IP when it reconnected forcing me to reset the devices and set it back up to link the app back to the device. The solution was to edit my routers setting and set a DHCP reservation using the devices mac address. This forced the router to supply the device the same IP address every time its connects to WIFI and I no longer needed to reset it every time I wanted to use it. After getting it setup on my network this way it has been a joy to use. The estimated cooking time worked perfectly on a 19 lbs turkey that I smoked over apple wood and I could check the meat from time to time while I was in the kitchen making the rest of the meal.
Pros: Easy to Use, Accuracy, Easy to Clean, Easy to Store
Cons: setup

Do Not Purchase
November 12, 2014
I have called customer care many times to try to assess the problem with this device and to ensure my router was compatible (Arris) and that I had set up properly. It will just NOT stay connected - sometimes can't connect at all and other times loses connection before your meat has even finished cooking. I have wasted hours! I had to leave out of country and missed my opportunity to return. It does work as a really expensive probe thermometer. Very disappointed - does not meet expectations for the price or WS quality.
Cons: Temperamental, will not stay connected

Easy Setup
June 23, 2014
It worked like a charm, first time out of the box. Setup was quick and easy. Keep in mind, it becomes a device on your wireless network (uses your home wireless network) so any problem you have with that will cause problems.
I have used it for three or four meals. It has a quick measuring response (immediately registers ambient temp). I have used it out on the patio with no loss of range.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Accuracy
Cons: Fragile

Do not buy

OK -- this is my third attempt to warn off people from this expensive brick. I wonder: Will W-S ever run it? The problem? This simply doesn't work. Period. Most (all?) of the problem has to do with the app, which constantly loses network connection. And all that good stuff that makes this thermometer "smart" resides -- you guessed it -- in the app.
Cons: Temperamental
