Williams-Sonoma Enchilada Starter

Enchiladas have their origins in Mexico's Mayan culture. The modern version is a hearty, vibrantly flavored casserole of rolled tortillas stuffed with chicken, beef or shrimp and cheese, baked in a sauce of fire-roasted tomatillos or tomatoes with mild chili peppers, onions and spices. Our all-natural Green and Red Enchilada Starters are as close to the real thing as you can get. Tangy, spicy slow-cooked blends of traditional ingredients for making Mexican-style green or red enchiladas. Green Enchilada Starter: Combines tart and spicy slow-roasted tomatillos, poblano and serrano peppers and lime juice with a savory mixture of fresh garlic, onion, cilantro. Heavy cream adds a smooth, velvety consistency. Red Enchilada Starter: Slow-simmered with traditional ingredients - roasted tomatoes, mild New Mexico and ancho chili peppers. The smoky flavors are balanced with a savory blend of fresh garlic, onion and spices. Just mix together with shredded cooked chicken or pork, chopped onions and cheese; roll in tortillas and bake to create this popular Mexican casserole. 1 lb. 9 oz. Made in USA. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

Great sauce for an easy meal
January 10, 2013
I had never used a William and Sonoma sauce before, and decided to give the red enchilada sauce a try. I have to eat gluten free, and Mexican food is an easy way to do that. This sauce was very unique and full of complex flavors. It was so easy to make a delicious, healthy chicken enchilada meal by using this sauce. I was very happy with the purchase. I just froze the left over sauce, and used it again later for another great meal.
Pros: Easy to Prepare, Quality, Time-saver, Flavor, Healthy

If you live far from your home in New Mexico and your craving red chili, you will enjoy this sauce!! My husband is from Santa Fe and after one taste he was planning to make Frito pies for lunch the next day...

The Green is average. Nothing to write home about!

As a native Texan, I didn't find anything authentic about the sauce. The sauce was a bit watery and salty for my taste. It was easy to make however I could make tomatillo sauce cheaper and tastier than this jar. Sometimes there is no cutting corners. I really wanted to love this product. Epic fail:(
Pros: Easy to Prepare, Time-saver
Cons: Disappointing, Flavor, expensive

Made it so easy to make authentic, five-star restaurant quality enchiladas. So good - will definitely keep this on hand. Made the red first and will try the green next time. This is a no-fail great dinner - don't hesitate to try it!
