Disappointed after washing them

I purchased the table runner and napkins for my Thanksgiving table and was initially very pleased with them. They have a beautiful luster and elegant feel BEFORE they're washed. It's a different story afterward, though. I thought I'd wash the napkins to get the packaging folds out and to soften them a bit before the actual day. Big mistake! Even if you follow the laundering directions exactly, which I knew to do after reading reviews of other W-S table linens, they come out terribly wrinkled, requiring a lot of ironing. The seams take on a puckered appearance that's hard to iron out even with a lot of effort and a good iron, too. The fabric also loses its luster and they end up looking faded and old. I expected more; so disappointed!
