Tunisian Hand-Painted Mosaic Tagine

Hand painted by a single artist, this earthenware dish can be used to cook and serve traditional North African tagines, as well as couscous and rice dishes. The cone-shaped cover funnels condensation directly back to the food for moist, tender results. The traditional Tunisian pattern is painted by hand using food-safe paints and glazes. Hand-thrown clay retains heat well for serving directly at the table. Oven and microwave safe. Handmade in Tunisia. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

Authentic tagine
September 12, 2013
The first one I received had a hairline crack, however the same WS shipped a new one. Follow the directions on how to prep and use with a diffuser, also store properly. The recipes and additives you can use are very versatile. I use this at least twice a month. Every chicken, vegetable, lemon, dried fruits have consistently come out fragrant, juicy and tender.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Easy to Clean, Easy to Store, Size, Versatile, Design

Great for display and cooking
June 17, 2013
I am so glad I bought this beautiful item. I do not know anything about Moroccan food but I like the looks of this cooking vessel. I followed the recipe on the video by Mourad Lahlou on chicken tagine. It came out perfect each time. The chicken comes out so tender, juicy and with an authentic taste. I used it the 4th time already since I bought it 2-3 months ago. Thanks WS for this beautiful piece and the video on chicken tagine.
Pros: Easy to Use, Easy to Clean
Cons: Fragile, needs a diffuser
