NOT your average take on smoothies!

I purchased several months ago and have enthusiastically made over half its recipes, still trying new ones every week because it's SO GOOD. I like the content, the presentation, the approach, etc. Just a great way to add more fruits, veggies, vitamins, minerals, proteins, etc. to your diet in a delicious way. My toddler is equally excited about smoothies. We drink more of them than ever now, thanks to this book.
Due to the obscure nature of some of the super food ingredients, you must be willing to plunk down cash for a few items not likely in your pantry. She lists substitutions though, so you can be flexible.
The only criticism I can point out is that a few of the recipes have chilled green tea as an ingredient. Green tea has compounds that leach vitamins out of the food you consume it with, so it is rather pointless to put it this kind of drink, and I substitute an herbal tea in those cases.
Pros: Quality, unique, healthful
Cons: requires add'l expense

Absolutely Delicious Recipes

I purchased this with my new Vitamix Blender several weeks ago, and perhaps thanks to this book, I have used my blender nearly everyday since. So far every recipe has been delicious.
While it may seem on the surface easy to make up one's own smoothie recipes, after making a few of these recipes it becomes very obvious how hard she worked to perfect these flavors. Each one I have tried (and that's about 10 so far) have had completely unique, bright flavors.
Because they each have one to several superfood ingredients, I did have to invest some money initially in stocking my pantry. Some ingredients I could not find locally and ordered (dried white mulberries, lucuma powder). The investment has definitely been worth it. These smoothies are delicious and I feel great after eating them.
I would definitely recommend this book. In fact, I'm picking up a copy for my mom.
