My kids are picky eaters, but they love sloppy joes. We've tried all of the grocery store varieties (Manwich, Lawry's, etc.) but they all pale in comparison to this Sloppy Joe Starter! There is so much flavor that you will never have leftovers again! It's quick and easy and FINALLY a meal that the whole family can enjoy.

Easy Weeknight Family Dinner

This starter is an easy way to make a quick and flavorful meal that everyone will love! I use ground turkey as a healthy alternative to ground chuck, and this mix of tomatoes and spices zests up turkey so perfectly that no one will even know the difference! Serve it like the classic sandwich we all love with a dollop of sour cream or some grated cheddar on top and you will be in love! I have even served it in tostitio scoops as appetizers on game day and it is difficult to keep up with the demand! Give it a try, you will not be disappointed! And do not forget to let it simmer, the more time it simmers, the less bite it has so if you find it too strong a flavor, let it simmer a little bit longer and enjoy the goodness!

easy and flavorful

As is or add a pinch or two of smoked paprika for an extra kick...top with pickles. I spead some garlic butter on the buns and toasted them on a skillet...yummy...great for a quick, easy and most importantly tastey quick meal.

Not very flavorful

I believe the point of this sauce is to be natural, without corn syrup, etc., but I found it to be bland. The taste of cumin, I believe, was very prominent in the sauce, and not in a good way. I guess I must like the old-fashioned way of making sloppy joes -- we use a recipe from America's Test Kitchen which is way better than this. However, if you want convenience and want a more natural flavor, you would probably like this.

Pretty simple - this starter was excellent. The taste was a perfect blend for a sloppy joe. Nice robust flavor with all the seasoning notes in harmony. It recommends 1-1/2 lbs. of beef but the amount easily handles 2 lbs. This will be a repeat purchase.

My fiancee and I tried this on a whim, and it has not been a disappointment. Just the right amount of flavor with a bit of heat. Works great following the directions or does really well with chicken and shredded pork!

Sorry, but this tasted like BBQ sauce instead of sloppy joe sauce. It has great ingredients in it however, the blend of vinegar, sugar, tomato, and worchestershire lend this to taste like BBQ sauce. If that is what you are after then this is great, but it's not for me. High priced for the amount you would actually use as well.

Too sweet and overpriced

I recently purchased this product and used half of it with ground beef and half of it with ground turkey. The sauce was too sweet for me (for both batches; the protein used made no difference in the level of sweetness).
If I want to save time and make sloppy joes again, I will turn to plain ol' Manwich because I think it has much better flavor than this overpriced starter. Or, if I have more time, I will just make the starter myself because I can make a much more flavorful and balanced starter for a fraction of the price W-S charges for this.

I used half the jar with a pound of ground turkey and tossed in some onions and I must say this sauce is fabulous. I am new to cooking so I need all the help I can get. I will be purchasing this item again and highly recommend it for anyone who wants to make a quick meal.

My family LOVES this sloppy joe starter, but we cannot eat it anymore because my son is allergic to wheat. Would williams Sonoma consider making it wheat/gluten free??? I know a lot of families who would appreciate it!
