Scotch-Cured Smoked Salmon

The seafood experts at Maine's family-run Browne Trading Co., in the heart of Portland's Old Port fishing community, use traditional techniques to create this exceptional smoked salmon. Farm-raised Scottish salmon are cured in Scotch whiskey barrels with Scotch, sea salt and cane sugar, then gently cold-smoked over local Maine fruitwoods. The result is creamy, slightly sweet salmon with a rich flavor and buttery, delicate texture. Each fillet is hand cut, trimmed and thinly sliced, ready to serve. Approx. 50 slices; 2 lb. 8 oz. (serves 6-10). Packaged in a wooden gift box. Shipped cold with ice packs. Made in USA.

Disappointed

I ordered 2 and only one arrived. It was not packaged sufficiently to keep the salmon at refrigerator temperature. The skin was left on the back on the fillet. The flavor was not as tasty as the other cold smoked salmon that I had purchased from a different vendor that Williams Sonoma offered the last few years.

I ordered this salmon for our Christmas Eve party. It had a perfect texture, color and balance of flavors. It was also beautifully presented. I would not hesitate to give this as a gift. It also arrived within the time-frame I had specified. This salmon has become one of my "go-to" party staples.

This is the very best cured, cold smoked salmon that I have ever eaten! It is very slightly sweet (in a savory way) with a buttery smoked taste and smooth texture mouth feel. This is WILD salmon, NOT farmed. I purchased this to try it first before buying it later to serve at a celebratory brunch.
It would also make a perfect gift as it is pre sliced, trimmed and packed in a gorgeous wooden crate!
It is an incredibly delicious piece of salmon that tastes like it came from a 3 star Michelin (highest rating) restaurant. No wonder the finest restaurants purchase from this purveyor.
It is a large piece of salmon- two and a half pounds!
On top of this, I ordered this at 7 PM California time on Wednesday and it was delivered less than 42 hours later straight to my door!
