Royal Icing

Our premeasured mix takes the mystery out of making fluffy buttercream frosting and decorative royal icing. It whips up with a stand mixer or beater in just 5 to 6 minutes, so you can decorate layer cakes, cookies and cupcakes with minimal measuring and almost no wait. Simply add water to the mix to create royal icing for adding fine details and lettering to desserts. Or add milk, butter and flavor extract to make fluffy buttercream for filling and frosting layer cakes, or swirling onto cupcakes. Makes 2 cups of royal icing or 3 cups of buttercream-style frosting (1 lb.). Made in USA. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

taste good...
October 14, 2012
I bought this just to try it. I actually like the taste of this icing better than regular from-scratch royal icing. It made enough icing for one batch of cookies, so it is a little pricey. But it mixed up smooth, handled well, and seemed to dry faster than regular royal icing. I don't know if I would call it a time-saver, as regular royal icing has all of three ingredients, but I will buy it again.
Pros: Texture, Easy to Prepare, Flavor
Cons: pricey

Makes A Disappointingly Small Amount of Frosting
February 6, 2012
I purchased this product at WS because they were out of meringue powder for royal icing from scratch and I was short on time.
I can't deny, the frosting made worked very well, especially given it was my first try at decorating cookies with royal icing, but given that friends were telling me meringue powder will take a long time to use up, I was extremely surprised that this entire box only made 2 cups of frosting. I just barely had enough for three dozen extremely simply decorated cookies.
It works in a pinch, but I think it would be much better bang for my buck in the future to make it from scratch--especially because I would have been horrified to have run out of frosting before finishing my cookies!
Pros: Quality, Time-saver
Cons: Disappointing, Amount

So Easy & Great Results
September 8, 2011
I bought this for last Easter's cookies and was very pleased with the results. So much more convenient than meringue powder. One box made enough icing to decorate several dozen cookies. It also stayed moist in a well sealed storage container for several days.
I'm ordering another box for this year's Christmas cookies.
Pros: Amount, Easy to Prepare, Quality, Time-saver
