Romertopf Clay Baker, 3 1/2-Qt.

Meet one of the easiest ways to cook up healthy, great-tasting favorites. A classic German design, our Romertopf ("Roman pot") roasts poultry, meat or vegetables to juicy perfection. When prepared in this covered clay baker, food stays moist without added oil - and retains all its fresh flavors and nutrients. Traditional clay baker offers a simple, efficient way to cook foods in their natural juices. Soaking the roaster in water before placing it in the oven generates and maintains moisture, guaranteeing succulent, tender results. Unglazed earthenware construction allows piece to absorb water prior to roasting and promotes gentle cooking. A tight-fitting cover circulates heat while sealing in juices, flavor and nutrients.

Awesome for Turkey
November 23, 2012
I use my Romertopf baker for my turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It makes the best turkey in the world! I swear by this thing. Soak it for 15 minutes in cold water. Put your turkey in it (I put black truffle shavings under the skin, stuff it with mirepoix, and season with salt and pepper and white truffle oil). Put it in a cold oven, and turn the heat to 450. After a 1/2 hour I turn it down to 425. It cooks in about three hours. I use a leave in digital thermometer. Juicy bird! Drain the liquid from the pot, omit the fat, and make gravy.
Pros: Easy to Use, Quality, Size, Shape, Design
Cons: Difficult to Store

Nice Clay Pot
December 15, 2011
The only thing I question is that the information for the pot says you can wash in mild soap. I never heard of a clay pot that can be washed with soap, so Im not going to use soap on it.
