Riedel's premier collection, the Sommeliers line, includes an impressive assortment of lead-crystal glasses, each developed by expert tasters to flatter a specific type of fine wine or liquor. This glass is designed to showcase the delicate qualities of medium-bodied red wines, including Zinfandel, Beaujolais Nouveau, Sangiovese, Dolcetto and Cotes du Roussillon. The shape of the bowl brings out the bouquet of cherry and almonds. The rim directs the flow of wine to the center of the palate, which allows you to experience the wine's suppleness and complex balance of fruit flavors, acidity and tannins. Artisans at the company's family-owned factory in Austria craft this exquisite piece individually, performing every step of the glassmaking process by hand. A better glass can't be found!

I was dubious that a single wine glass would be worth the price--however, after one taste of a fine Zin from this glass, I was sold. The fine-edged rim along with the shape and weight create the most pleasing aesthetic that cannot be beat. Sure, you can get a cheaper wine glass from WS or elsewhere, but if you're a true connoisseur, this glass cannot be matched.
