Riedel Sommeliers Bourgogne (Burgundy) Grand Cru Glass

Riedel's premier collection, the Sommeliers line, includes an impressive assortment of lead-crystal glasses, each developed by expert tasters to flatter a specific type of fine wine or liquor. Representing a quantum leap in wineglass design when it was created in 1958, this glass is on permanent display at the New York Museum of Modern Art. The glass showcases the complexity and finesse of first-rate Burgundies and other top-class wines made from Pinot Noir grapes, as well as Italian Barolo and Barbaresco wines. Its large bowl provides ample breathing space for the bouquet to develop, while the slightly flared rim directs the flow of wine onto the front of the palate, which allows you to appreciate the balance of fruit flavors and acidity. Artisans at the company's family-owned factory in Austria craft this exquisite piece individually, performing every step of the glassmaking process by hand. Before ordering, please be sure your wineglass storage can accommodate the height of this glass. We recommend washing by hand. 37-oz. cap., 9 3/4" high.

This glass is both beautiful and very light. It greatly adds to the appreciation of the wine.
Must be very careful in handling (washing) as the glass is delicate.
Pros: Quality
Cons: Fragile

Best pinot noir glass out there
July 12, 2010
We have been drinking from these glasses for years, and they ave been our go to pinot noir glasses. Not only do they look gorgeous, but they truly enhance the experience of a good Burgundy, as well as pinot noir from California, Oregon, etc. We bring these glasses to many offline tastings throughout the year, and have yet to damage one (knock on wood). We transport two of them in the Riedel carrying case, and they make great conversation pieces. I cannot tell you how many compliments we have gotten on these glasses at offlines with oenophiles, to just bringing them to a local restaurant where other diners have noticed them and asked the wait staff if they could have them. Unfortuantely, the servers always end up telling them that we brought them ourselves. If you are looking for a glass that truly enhances your Burgundy or pinot noir experience, this is the glass for you. Just be prepared to receive many compliments on them! These are "njfoodies approved!"

Serious wine glass
May 11, 2010
If you take wine tasting seriously (especially pinot noir), then this is the Riedel glass for you. It is a beautiful and impressive wine glass, visually and functionally. The glass is much larger than in the Vinum or Grape lines, but not dauntingly so. The design of the glass brings out the bouquet and the flavor of your favorite pinot noir. This glass definitely enhances the tasting experience for you and your guests, and is a worthwhile investment to complement anyone's wine collection.
