Texas Beef Chili

Most Lone Star chili masters eschew beans and tomatoes. To them, chili is all about the meat-beef only-and the seasoning. Purists also claim that toppings turn their bowl of red into a salad bar. But you can opt for anything you like, such as sour cream, shredded cheese red onions-or even a handful of tortilla chips for crunch.

A lot of time/money, not great
February 17, 2014
I made this tonight. I ground my own ancho powder since I couldn't find the pure powder in the local whole foods. The other ingredients weren't hard to find but the prep took some time. Maybe 30 min. The result just wasn't that great. Somewhat soupy, somewhat bitter, mostly edible due to the toppings. I much prefer the chipotle chili from this same site but continue in my search for something better. Oh, and I would not call this recipe a good value... Kinda expensive, even with chuck.
