Makes an Artichoke Lover Out of Anyone

My Italian husband adores artichokes made the old-fashioned way: dead plain, steamed in water with olive oil and vinegar, no dipping sauce. I've made them that way for him for years, but I never liked them myself.
When I saw this recipe, I thought it might be a way to make artichokes we could both enjoy, but I was not prepared for how absolutely delicious it is. I could eat this as a main course.
BTW, I had no currants so I used dried cranberries instead with excellent results.
