Pumpkin Pie with Orange Marmalade

The key to making a flaky, all-butter crust is to handle the ingredients as little as possible. Cut the butter into the flour just until it forms pea-size crumbs; this means that small bits of butter will still be visible. A common misconception when making pie dough is that the butter holds the flour together. The ice water actually performs this function, so avoid overblending the butter.

Delicious flavor
December 1, 2010
I made this recipe for Thanksgiving. The molasses flavor really comes through, which I thought (and those who were sharing the pie with me) was delicious. I love the W-S pie crust recipe, I use my food processor, and it couldn't be easier to put together. I marked the pie down one star because it doesn't have the same solid texture as a typical pumpkin pie (like from the Libby's can recipe). This pie is sightly mushy, but then again, that could be because of my very old oven. Definitely worth trying!

Woo hoo for molasses!

I often make minor modifications with WS recipes but I did not modify anything with this one! Heavy cream is must for this one. Caveat: Do not substitute half and half for this recipe. It might work with the other WS pumpkin pie recipes. The molasses and heavy cream make this recipe tremendously awesome! A nice port to wash it down...enjoy!
