Maple Leaf Cookies

These cookies are inspired by the changing colors of maple leaves in autumn. The dough can be made up to several days ahead. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to bake.

Unusual cookie perfect for fall
August 20, 2012
These have a nice, light maple flavor. Personally, I would have liked the maple flavor to be stronger, but they're still good. They're not too sweet, and baking them reminded me of shortbread. They also filled the house with a wonderful aroma.
I found the 10-12 minute baking time a bit too long. The baked the first batch for 11 minutes; they ended up burnt on the bottom. I found 9 minutes was perfect for the cookie to become lightly browned and crisp.
Overall, very nice. I would make them again.
Pros: Will Make Again
Cons: Unhealthy

Simple and Delicious
February 24, 2011
I made these when my originally-planned dessert when awry. They were so easy to put together and came out so well. They are something of a mix between a sugar cookie and a shortbread. They are sweet, but not sickeningly sweet.

Sensational

A colleague brought these to a departmental party--and they are sensational. A simple, direct cookie; wonderful maple taste; lovely to look at . . . but even better to eat.
