The best of the best scratch key-lime pie!

I was looking for something to beef up the old Good Housekeeping Cookbook's pastry recipe and this crust was the one with the added sugar and butter. I love the pastry vs graham cracker crust and all I do different is add a 1/2 tbsp if key-lime zest each to the pastry and the filling - I also garnish with the zest over the meringue after the pie is fully baked. Bravo!

Very Best Key Lime Pie Recipe!

This made-from-scratch Key Lime Pie recipe is amazing! Absolutely the best key lime pie ever - made it for my husband's birthday and he and guests raved. The pie crust is exceptional (will now use for all pies!) and the pie custard itself is melt-in-your mouth rich, smooth and delicious. This is definitely a keeper. My husband prefers whipped cream so I used whipped heavy whipping cream instead of making the meringue. Topped the whipped cream with confetti sprinkles and candles. It was beautiful and festive as well as delicious!
Pros: Appearance, Impressive, Will Make Again, flavor & texture of custard, buttery flakey crust
