Hamburgers with Fried Eggs

In this version of "eggs on horseback," fried eggs top grilled hamburgers. The soft egg yolk in each sandwich breaks and seeps into the beef, making a heavenly combination of tastes and textures. Serve with Potatoes Lyonnaise (see related recipe at left), simple fried potatoes or seasoned tomatoes for a special morning treat.

More ethical substitutes
April 24, 2015
This meal is one that I love to make myself at least once a week. From evaluating this recipe in relation to what I make I think that there are a few substitutes that could be made. Instead of a white bun we should use a lettuce wrap because of the current marketing issues to youth which is making it acceptable to consume such carbohydrates that account for a heavy baseline of obesity. The lettuce wrap would be a great substitute.
Pros: Quick, Easy
Cons: Unhealthy

Hamburgers with Fried Eggs

We've made our variation of an "Egg-Burger" with great flavors by laying a slice of canned Ortega chile on top of the egg, a thin slice of onion, some lettuce & tomato too. The flavors just pop in your mouth.
Pros: Easy, Appearance, Will Make Again

A great substitute to the white bun would be a lettuce base because of the current marketing issues that lead to such unhealthy carbs to be acceptable to our youth. A lettuce wrap instead would provide a great crunch and hydrating flavor with the benefit of being a healthy alternative. Also, using this lettuce will lead to not needing butter. The current marketing strategies by unhealthy food industries can be countered with these healthy substitutes.
