I love this dish, but I agree that it can be a bit bland without a substitution. I recommend using ground Italian sausage instead of ground beef. That helps a LOT. I make this with gluten-free pasta, and I love how it turns out!

Agree with the last reviewer...
October 7, 2012 that it lacked flavor. Maybe needed more garlic? I used canned diced tomatoes, and maybe it would have been better with canned crushed, since that would have made it a little saucier. I don't understand all the rave reviews. Maybe I did something wrong?

Looked good - only okay flavor

This looked like it was going to be so delicious but the flavor did not "pop." Not much in spices so I may add taco/other seasoning to the meat next time or perhaps some chili flakes. Was easy to make though and would be a great comfort food meal.
