Classic Lemon Pound Cake

This classic lemon cake is best prepared a day in advance, which will allow the sugary lemon syrup time to infuse the cake with added moisture and flavor. Serve the cake with fresh sliced strawberries-a favorite springtime berry and a wonderful partner for lemons-and lightly whipped cream to spoon alongside.

Great for brunch

This pound cake is delicious. I used all of the glaze so it had a pretty strong lemon flavor which I liked. Since its pound cake you can't eat too much at once so I suggest keeping it in the refridgerator because of the cream cheese. Tastes great with strawberries.

Simple, yet fantastic
April 7, 2012
I made this cake for a brunch and it received rave reviews. The perfect amount of lemon essence: strong enough to pair well with berries, but not overpowering. I served it with raspberries and strawberries, which balanced the taste very well. However, it's not too "lemon-y" to serve on its own.
Pros: Easy, Impressive, Will Make Again
Cons: Unhealthy

Perfect with Seasonal Fresh Berries
July 10, 2011
This is absolutely the best pound cake I have ever tasted - moist, not too rich nor too lemony. I made it without the lemon glaze and substituted a lemon curd and added fresh blueberries. I've also made a framboise & raspberry sauce which I have served with the cake along with fresh raspberries. The possibilities are endless. Most definitely a permanent addition to my recipe repertoire
Pros: Easy, Appearance, Adaptable, Will Make Again
