Classic Caramel Sauce

Follow these instructions carefully and your caramel sauce will turn out perfectly. Remember that you cannot rush the caramelizing process, but once the sugar turns amber, it can cross the line from caramelized sugar to burned sugar in an instant, so watch it carefully. Drizzle the finished sauce over ice cream for a decadent dessert.

Great for Ice Cream or as a Fruit Dip
December 8, 2011
I made some pumpkin ice cream for Thanksgiving, and when we had tons of leftovers I thought it might be nice to make this caramel sauce.
The recipe is very simple and easy to follow. It seemed to come together quickly. It does taste better if you let it sit overnight, but my family ate half the jar before it could set.
Pros: Good Value, Easy, Impressive, Will Make Again
Cons: Unhealthy

Perfect for Ice Cream
April 30, 2010
This caramel is so delicious and is just the right amount of sweet, unlike some other caramel sauces which can be cloyingly saccharine. I would recommend following the recipes advice to wear pot holders when adding the cream. Caramel burns are some of the worst cooking related burns you can get, so be careful.
