Buche de Noel

To cool a mixture down more rapidly than by simple refrigeration, set it in an ice bath. Fill a bowl larger than the one holding the mixture about one-third full of ice. Add about 1 cup water. Nestle the smaller bowl into the ice water. Adding the water to the ice makes the ices chilling power much more effective. This same principle works for chilling wine: Add water to an ice bucket to keep wine cold.

Yummy holiday cake! Festive!
December 22, 2011
This is an easy desert that tastes great. Didn't make the mushrooms... added my own festive design. Much easier Buche de Noel, than other versions, but again... very good flavor. Don't skip the syrup...I used simple syrup and added rum...
Will make again.
Pros: Good Value, Easy, Kid-Friendly, Appearance, Impressive, Will Make Again
Cons: Unhealthy, Lengthy

A "Wow" Dessert
December 6, 2010
Easy delicious dessert that's a showstopper. A tradition in my house, I make several as gifts. Make the mushrooms beforehand on a dry day and store. Then add when you're ready to serve.
