Buche de Noel

To cool a mixture down more rapidly than by simple refrigeration, set it in an ice bath. Fill a bowl larger than the one holding the mixture about one-third full of ice. Add about 1 cup water. Nestle the smaller bowl into the ice water. Adding the water to the ice makes the ices chilling power much more effective. This same principle works for chilling wine: Add water to an ice bucket to keep wine cold.

holiday classic

I've been making this for several years now for Christmas. Yes, it is very time consuming however the final product is definitely worth it. My husband, who doesn't typically enjoy cake LOVES this desert and usually starts requesting it around Thanksgiving. The nice thing is you can make this in stages and finish it the day before serving - I find the longer it sits the better it tastes.
Pros: Yield, Appearance, Impressive, Will Make Again
Cons: Lengthy
