Disappointing

This was very time consuming, and the product did not deliver. I would not make this again.
Cons: Complicated, Yield, Lengthy

My aunt always told me, never bring a dish/dessert to a social gathering if you've never made it before; she was right! I made this cake for a family gathering and not only was it labor intensive, it did not live up to my Williams Sonoma standards. I followed the recipe and will say that this was one disaster. Making great desserts is my passion and I had the first slice and didnt want anyone else to try it because I thought it was terrible. Cake was too dense, filling was so so; this recipe needs to be improved for sure.

Only OK...not great

This was a very labor intensive dessert...which would have been fine if we LOVED it. Unfortunately, the cake is too dense. The filling is good, and the chocolate icing turned out OK. I wanted to love this recipe, unfortunately we didn't. I made exactly as directed, and I don't think I'll make again.

Tasty cake, not so great frosting

This recipe both looked and sounded delicious before I tried it. I ended up being both pleased and disappointed y the end results. The cake and cream filling were outstanding, but the chocolate glaze ended up thin and ran off the cake. The unflavored gelatin seemed to curdle, rather than liquify and thicken the glaze. A powdered sugar-based glaze, similar to that on a donut, would have been a better substitute.

this was a fantastic "grown-up" birthday cake. my husband loved it!
