Almond Breakfast Cake

Almond paste, almond extract and sliced almonds deliver a triple dose of almond flavor to this single-layer cake. Make sure to use almond paste rather than marzipan, which contains sugar. Fresh almond paste is soft and blends easily with the butter. To keep it fresh, always store it tightly wrapped so that it doesn't take on moisture.

for almond lovers

This is a nice almond coffee cake. I made it in a springform pan for ease. Generous amount of topping and the cake has a nice tender crumb, but I thought it could be a bit sweeter.
Pros: Appearance, Will Make Again

Good "coffee" cake.

I enjoyed making this cake. I never used the almond paste before, but the cake turned out delicious with a cup of coffee. It was a little bit dry, thus crumbly. Still it tasted good.
Pros: Yield, Will Make Again
