A modern update of traditional canning tongs, this tool is designed for easy one-handed use when lifting jars in and out of a boiling-water bath. Spring-loaded hinges keep the lifter open until you apply pressure, which makes it easier to lower the tongs over each jar. Spring loaded for convenient one-handed use. These can be used with one hand. I have early onset arthritis and these make handling jars safer and much easier.
The tongs are curved on the bottom and fit well around the top of the jar. Also makes it much easier to drain water out of jars that have been filled with water during the sterilization process.
Can't imagine canning without these.
Pros: well designed, sturdy, can use one handed, do not conduct heat
