Star Pocket Pie Mold
August 16, 2010
Easy to use and all in one! Even my five year old can make the pocket pies, and the whole family has fun doing so. I love that it is the cutter and sealer in one. This is my third pocket pie mold I have purchased from your store, and I will purchase more as they come available, I enjoy making the different shapes for the different holidays.

So cute & easy!
August 13, 2010
We made these w/ 5 children ages 6-12 and had so much fun! To make it easy, we used pre-made frozen pie crust from Trader Joes which came in flat rounds. We used the scraps to roll out extra pies and managed to get 8-10 pies out of a box of 2 frozen rounds. The kids had even more fun eating them than making them!

Cute pies to be had
August 4, 2010
I have not used this actual mold, yet, but I do have others from this line. That is what prompted me to purchase this one. My friends were impressed when my apple pies looked like apples. What will they say when I bring them pumpkin pie stars?

Molds work fine as cutters but not crimpers
February 7, 2010
The molds work fine to cut perfect heart and star shapes out of pastry dough, except the small heart and star cutouts for steam holes stick in the molds and must be removed each time with a knife. The mold does not work at all, however, to crimp the edges after filling. The hinges are too small to allow sufficient clearance over the filled pocket pie. When the mold is closed, the two cutouts become misaligned. Even worse, the star mold cut off the ends of two of the points. If I used less filling, the result would be a pocket pie with too much pastry and too little fruit. I intend to use them again, but only as pastry cutters. I'll try using a fork to crimp the edges.

These are cute pies!
January 26, 2010
I made these pies and they were very popular. I didn't have any trouble getting them out of the molds, but I did flour the molds because of what others had said.
The error I made was stuffing the pocket WAY too full of filling. I imagined plump pies and I got a huge mess that necessitated cleaning my oven. I haven't made them again, so I haven't perfected the quantity of filling. I am planning on having the filling gently mounded next time.

If you go by the recipe on the box you should have no problem .i used the store bought crust and ws apple filling . I could not make them fast enough. it was better than a whole pie.you can just grab and go.the trick is to freeze the pies before you bake .I had no problem with sticking to the mold at all. fun and easy.I have the apple and pumpkin mold plan on getting the heart one . I like the pumpkin mold the best.

Easy Pie!
December 6, 2009
I used these molds yesterday with a 4 year old and we've never had so much fun! With the ease of pre-made pie crust and cans of pie filling, we were creating masterpieces in minutes! The pies sort of flatten in baking, but the integrity of the mold is still there. Make sure to flour-up everything for ease in dough removal.

A great size for individual desserts
November 24, 2009
I loved the recipe for the pocket pie pastry and filling. The molds make such a pretty dessert.
I did find that the heart works better than the star. Perhaps it is because of the sharp points on the star which I found difficult to remove cleanly.
I have learned that these freeze beautifully and can be baked and served warm when having guests. A favorite for sure!

Family fun
November 21, 2009
Since I have been making pocket pies, my family can enjoy a delious treat made in minutes. At our house a whole pie would go to waste before the whole thing was eaten. With pocket pie molds I can make just enough. I love them so much I have ordered another set to give to a friend.

Fun!
November 9, 2009
These make cute little pies. They are fun to use but I haven't quite made the perfect one yet. I believe it is necessary to flour the mold first so the crust slips out easily. You also must coat the edges with egg white before closing to make sure they seal. They bake well and I love to make them. Overall I am happy with these.

Pocket Pie Molds
November 9, 2009
These are fun to do.They are bigger than I thought but that was ok. I made them for a church bake sale which is something different.
The molds have to be sprayed with an aerosol cooking oil or they won't come out of the mold easily. You have to brush the edges with the egg before filling, adding the top crust and pressing together(a must). I made the recipe with the apples/cranberries and it was good. I also bought canned apple pie filling, cut into smaller pieces as well as cherry and blueberry filling. Works well without the time to make my own.
All in all a fun baking project. I will also be making for a Christmas treat too since I bought 4 different molds and plan on brushing the finished baked pockets with a confectionery sugar glaze and also just sprinkling with dry confectioners sugar as well as sugar granules.
FYI, I used candy maker 9" treat bags to put each in and tied them with a colorful curling ribbon. Makes for a neat and great selling item at the bake sale.
