Almond Lemon Cake

The harmonious flavors of citrus, almonds and vanilla shine in this luscious layer cake, handcrafted at L.A.'s legendary Platine Bakery. It begins with two layers of traditional almond pound cake, enriched with finely ground almonds and aromatic vanilla beans. In between the layers, a homemade lemon mousse filling adds bright, tangy flavors and a light, airy texture. For a decadent finish, the entire cake is covered in fluffy vanilla cream cheese frosting. Cake is 8" diam.; 4" high (serves 15-20). Made in USA. Shipped frozen. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

This cake was ok....
March 9, 2015
This cake was ordered as a birthday cake. It was ok. For the money - it was bad. I will not order it again. The cake was a bit dry. The texture was grainy. I thought the cake could have been executed much better than it was. The frosting was good and pretty. The thought was good. Poor execution. I really wish it has tasted better. I was hoping this could be a resource for sending cakes to loved ones out of town. Unfortunately, due to the grainy quality and overall dry taste, I will not be using this for my source for delivered cakes. I cannot recommend this cake to others.

THE perfect cake for all celebrations

I had the chance to taste this amazing cake a couple of months back when invited at a friend’s house, and I am still thinking about it! With the exception of high quality chocolate treats, my family is not very big on desserts so I always ask to be served the smallest slice not to offend the hostess. In this case, well, we had to ask for seconds. This is an absolutely lovely cake, not overpoweringly sweet. The lemon taste is at once subtle and deep, and the texture is dense the way Spanish or Italian cakes are: satisfying to the tooth yet light and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Both kids and adults enjoyed this is a lot and I would recommend it for the hostess looking for a sophisticated yet accessible crowd pleasing treat.
