Perfect roast chicken!
May 18, 2015
I'm pretty confident at making just about anything on the stovetop, but I was super nervous about roasting my first chicken. I followed the Martha Stewart recipe to a tee - especially the part about cooking it for the full 90 minutes at 425°. I then went to check that the breast was at 180° and that the thigh was at 190°. Thank god for this thermometer because, even after following the instructions exactly, the meat was still about 5° undercooked in both areas (and still a bit pink). Cooking it for 10 more minutes and testing the temperature again did the trick. The chicken turned out amazing.
I was so scared that the chicken would be undercooked and that my whole family would get sick, but the OXO thermometer worked perfectly. I am so glad I used it instead of just trusting the time on the recipe!!
Pros: Easy to Use, Accuracy, Quality, Design

not accurate
July 25, 2012
I bought this thermometer hoping it would be a great product. I have an All-Clad digital thermometer, but it's the kind with the wire, which is not as convenient to use for just a quick temperature read. I returned this OXO one because it told me my chicken was 120, when in reality the All-Clad told me the chicken was 180 (and it was!). Very disappointing. Spend a little more money to get one that works instead. (BTW, my All-Clad thermometer rocks!)
Cons: Quality, Temperamental, Inaccurate
