Opinel Folding Knife
Created by Joseph Opinel in 1890, the French-made Opinel folding knife is world-renowned for its simplicity, reliability and razor-sharp blade. This model's 3 1/4" blade makes it the ideal picnic knife, whether for slicing salami or barbecued steak. Each blade is made from durable, corrosion-resistant Sandvik stainless steel. The steel collar can be manually locked in place to firmly secure blade while in use. Works wonderfully as a pocket utility knife, especially suited for picnicking, camping, fishing and outdoor barbecues.

Opinel makes the best folding knives. The blade is thin, so it is razor sharp, can be sharpened with the sharpest edge angle, and is light weight. The handle is all wood, has a rounder shape than all other folding knives and is light weight. Rotating the metal colar locks the blade open and closed! I use it every day in the kitchen and carry it as a pocket knife for picnics. It has no spring in it and locks. So it isn't going to snap shut and cut your fingers. This knife is minimalist, but serves better than any other folding knife. A great value. After you try one, think about getting extras for your kitchen, pocket, and toolbox! There are carbon and stainless (inox) steel versions. Carbon steel is easier to sharpen, holds an edge better, but discoloration should be accepted with love. Stainless steel is more care free.
