This WAS one of my favorite cooking tools...
May 31, 2014
... until my fiancé put it in the dishwasher! Now it looks unfinished and isn't smooth anymore because, I guess, the dishwasher washed the coat of wood finishing off. So, be warned! The Olive Wood Cooks' Spoon absolutely cannot be put in the dishwasher!
So anyway, why did I like this tool so much? The bowl has a tear drop shape that made it possible to scrape off food at the bottom corners of any straight-edged pan or pot. It felt very sturdy and did not give at all even when stirring super thick sauces and batters as well as hardy soups. The spoon was also quite beautiful until, you know, it was washed in the dishwasher.
I will definitely be purchasing a replacement!
Pros: Quality, Size, Design

Your spoon
Greetings. I just received the 14" spoon on Friday as it was backordered. I washed it in warm water and Dawn. After it dried, I used Food Safe Mineral Oil on it. I will do this daily for the first week. It protects the wood. Perhaps, the mineral oil can restore the spoon that suffered in the dishwasher? :-)

Gorgeous and functional

I love the beautiful grain, smooth feel and weighting of the olive wood used for this spoon. The long handle allows you to keep a comfortable distance from the steam/heat of what you're cooking. And the bowl of the spoon, while shallow, is deep enough for tasting.
But for me the best part is the pointed tip. It's great for scrapping the sides of pots to make sure nothing is burning and to better incorporate ingredients. I have to say, for thick stews/gumbo/bolognese nothing beats the Littledeer pot scoop. But for lighter jobs like soups, oatmeal, sauces and stock this is perfect. I've even given away my 2 older cooking spoons as this is the only one I need.
Pros: Durable, Quality, Design, Weight
