Not just for melon

I've had a couple of other melon ballers over the years, but they were all the two-sided variety that dig into the hand if not held just right. If for no other reason, this one is far superior to those others. The handle gets a bit slick when wet, but the tool is nicely sharp and otherwise great for it's intended use as well as scraping seeds/innards out of squash or deseeding cucumbers.

This product does exactly what it is supposed to do....scoop melon balls. Works great. Easy to clean.

Great Kitchen Tool

I have been looking at melon ballers for years, but thought I could get by without one. When I finally purchased the melon baller from William Sonoma, I can't believe I waited so long. I use it all the time. It is heavy duty and very good quality. I think that every kitchen should have one.

Pretty Good

This thing worked pretty well. The description was correct-it did make pretty firm, round balls of melon. Obviously, it didn't work well with softer melons. The only downside was that the melon juice coats your fingers and makes the grip slippery, causing about 3 graceful melon balls, with the remaining squishy and misshaped. However, it was good for parfait and things that covered the balls, so you couldn't see the ugly shape. Good for fruit salads!
