I'm keeping it because of its looks
March 27, 2012
This pot is 2mm thick, not 2.5mm as described.
Someone had asked the weight... it is 7lb-2oz without the lid.
This has been a bit of a disappointment. I was really looking for something a lot more substantial (i.e. heavier). Still, I'm keeping it because it looks so great.

Superb stock pot

So, let's first acknowledge that this pot is pricey, very pricey. Is it worth it? I can only tell you this: I have used it over and over again for myriad purposes and it has yet to fail me. It is great for a gumbo, for chicken or beef stock, New Orleans-style Red Beans and for a wondrous cream of chicken and mushroom soup. You can saute' your veggies, make a roux or sauce right in it and then add liquids or meats, or both. It holds nearly three gallons so it is not a puny little thing. I would prefer a stainless lining but if you make sure not to heat it above 450 degrees, it will be fine. The pot, of course, is beautiful ... whether you like to polish it or not. I only polish it at Christmas time so I can brag about it to friends and family. You may want to wait to see if it goes on sale (as it has in the past) or you may just want to splurge. Either way, you will not be disappointed. Just be careful, visitors to your home may find it difficult to leave without taking it with them.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Color, Size, Versatile, Shape, Design, Weight
Cons: Difficult to Clean
