beautiful kettle but fragile
February 8, 2013
Lovely kettle. The ocean color is wonderful and the kettle shape is great. However, use extra care when handling. Had mine only a week when it slipped from my hands in my porcelain sink. The lid now has porcelain loss and scrapes.
Pros: Easy to Use, Color, Size, Shape, Design
Cons: Fragile

A Pretty Tea Kettle
February 7, 2013
I bought this mostly for its looks and color (Marseille blue) and am happy with that. Its performance is good too. I have learned to empty the pot when I'm done boiling water to prevent build-up inside.

Lovely tea kettle!
February 6, 2013
I bought this tea kettle for myself for Christmas and am so happy that I did. The aubergine (dark purple) is lovely, and I keep it out on my cooktop. The handle does get hot, so I remedy that by slightly tilting the handle diagonally while it is heating, so it stays cool. Also you do need to open the spout and wait just a few seconds before pouring, or boiling water will spew. But otherwise it is a wonderful teakettle and I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Disappointed with this one
November 21, 2012
I have been a fan of Le Creuset cookware for many years now. I have, unfortunately, noticed a steady decline in product quality over the past 3-4 years, mostly in the items that are no longer made in France.
This tea kettle feels poorly constructed, the spout feels as if it will break by the years end & is not easy to flip open/closed. The lid does not fit very well, steam escapes from the lid area with each use. My biggest concern however is the fact that boiling water surges out despite very careful & gentle pouring.
It is a shame, I was really looking forward to this tea kettle, as I received it as a wedding registry gift.
Pros: Easy to Clean, Color, Size, Shape
Cons: Quality, poor construction, boiling water spills out despite careful pouring, over priced for the quality of the item.

Great shape, heats fast
November 17, 2012
Elegant shape and bright color (flame). I am a fan of Le Creuset cook and bake ware so, finally purchasing the teakettle made me very happy. When you read the maintenance instructions the kettle needs to be wiped dry after use vs. leaving water in. My thought is that if you spend the money because you love quality kitchenware, enjoy food and cooking, then the maintenance of your cookware--even a teakettle--extends its life and your happiness. Like my Le Creuset trivet, the teakettle remains on view.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Easy to Clean, Color, Size, Shape, Design

Great Product
October 7, 2012
I purchased this tea kettle over 5 years ago and have used every day to boil water for tea or hot chocolate depending on time of year. It looks as works as good as the first day I bought it. I do take care of it by making sure not to leave water in it or boil dry but other than that have taken no special precautions with it. My sister in law made the comment that I have had it forever and asked how I liked it? I told her I loved it. I will be purchasing one for her as a Christmas gift.

I like this robust kettle
July 27, 2012
We recently remodeled our kitchen and got a new professional style range. Even the basic 16Kbtu burner was too much for our used but loved stainless steel Chantal kettle. I was concerned about the Le Creuset kettle because other reviewers had mentioned the paint chipping and the plastic elements being of lower quality. We thought we would give it a try. Let me tell you it has really stood up to the fires of the range. I'm not one to baby my kitchen things, they either work or they don't and this kettle has fully passed my test. If I had any complaint at all it would be that the whistle isn't as loud and beautiful sounding as the Chantal harmonic whistle (before my new stove melted it of course). If you like the bright Le Creuset colors and want a work horse of a kettle I highly recommend this one.

Attractive and functional!
June 12, 2012
This tea kettle is very attractive.. I leave it on the stove all the time. I use it multiple times a day and in fact, since getting it my espresso machine is hardly ever used anymore. It's easy to use and requires no clean up in order for me to get my fix! The only negative that I have found is that the handle is misleading -- do not attempt to grab it without using a towel or potholder. It is very hot! Overall, I am very pleased with this.

The best tea kettle EVER
March 12, 2012
The Le Creuset tea kettle is by far my favorite one out there. And this one is even better because it's in my favorite color! The only downside to these kettles is that burning them dry ruins them. When you make tea multiple times a day, the one time you walk away from the stove and miss the whistle going off happens maybe once a year for me, which means I have the opportunity to buy a lot of kettles. I always buy one of these. They are that good.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Easy to Clean, Color, Easy to Store, Size, Versatile, Shape, Design, Weight, whistle is attached and can't be lost

Great teakettle
January 2, 2012
After reading the reviews online for this teakettle, I was concerned about getting it. However, I liked its combination of features -- the size, the shape and especially the color selections. I went to my local store and talked to them about their experience with it, and they said that their customers had not returned any.
I have now had the teakettle for several weeks. I have not had any problems with it at all -- no flaking, no crusting, the whistle is very loud, and nothing has melted. I make sure that the flame does not go outside the bottom of the teakettle, but that seems like common sense. I never leave water in it and I generally take the lid off after I use it so that it can air out.
It is a really beautiful color -- I got fennel. It was a brighter green than it appeared in the picture to me, but that could be my computer. I am very happy with the product.

Great kettle for daily use
December 18, 2011
Pretty happy with fun fennel color kettle. Adds a splash of color to my dark kitchen. When used according to instructions this kettle works like a charm. If you try to pour water right after it whistles/boils you will get boiling water splashing out of the spout. Wait a few seconds to avoid this. Cons: rust at base where handle attaches to base of kettle after 1 week of use and my spout seems to drip with each pour which is an inconvenience but hey, it's just water. This is my second Le Creuset kettle, the 1st one (cobalt) is still in use in another home.
Pros: Easy to Use, Quality, Easy to Clean, Color, Size, Shape, Design
Cons: rust, drips

LOVE LOVE LOVE this kettle!
October 13, 2011
I received this as a gift Christmas 2008. I used constantly. I moved at the end of 2009 and this ended up in a box in a storage unit for over a year. When I was unpacking and so much of my stuff had been ruined I began to worry about this teakettle, but after washing it, it's good as new. SO sturdy and reliable, and it looks soooo good sitting out on the stove!
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Easy to Clean, Color, Design
Cons: Weight, Difficult to Store

I would buy this again
September 13, 2011
I've had a Le Creuset teakettle for many years. (The one I have now is my 2nd & it's nearly 2 years old). I am more than pleased with this product, & when it comes time to replace it (several years from now, I'm sure), I'll buy another. It has everything -- it boils water well, it whistles, looks beautiful on top of the cooktop ... I have a gas cooktop & have no problems at all with the kettle. I heat the water on high heat, but the flame isn't higher than it needs to be. I empty the kettle after every use & I haven't noticed any flaky on my current one. (Or at least if there was any, it stopped & now I don't remember it doing that). My first Le Creuset had some mineral build-up, even though I emptied the kettle after each use. I've had other teakettles & this is by far the best & well worth the price.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Color, Size, Shape, Design

Wasn't so sure about this kettle
August 15, 2011
After looking high and low for a quality teakettle, the Le Creuset was the only one that appeared to meet my criteria, but some of the reviews made me uncertain.
While in a Williams-Sonoma store looking at the kettle, a customer walked by and said she loved hers so I bought it thinking if I didn't like it I could return it.
I've had it about a year now and I love it. There were bits of enamel flaking off at first, but I rinse it out each time I refill it and I'm not finding them anymore. It holds more than most other kettles and heats quickly. And for me, the whistle is a plus.
Pros: Easy to Use, Easy to Clean, Size, Shape

Lovely in Linen
August 4, 2011
I bought this for my mother and she uses it all the time. Like all kettles you cannot leave water in it over periods of time because of the mineral build up. The scaling is common in all kettles I've ever come across, the one I own at home, the one at the office...which is why you need to remove the water after use. Can't wait to go to Vancouver and grab my own.
Pros: Color, Size, Shape, Design, heat distribution

Flaky pot not good for tea
July 29, 2011
The teapot is very nice looking. However, despite the claim that the porcelin enamel will not corrode, it does. It began flaking during washes and has a chalky, cement-like odor. I'm hoping it's a lemon and can get a replacement.

Works fine for us
July 28, 2011
I've used this teakettle for almost 4 years on a gas stove and never had a problem with the plastic melting. I do keep the gas on medium-high rather than all the way on high, but we've had no problems so far.

A teakettle you can't use on high heat?
July 14, 2011
As handsome as this kettle may be, the plastic around the spout melts if it's used on a gas flame or an otherwise high heat. Not a good thing if you're trying to boil water. A complaint to LeCreuset prompted the response that the product packaging discloses this. It does not. And even if it did, what's the use of reading the fine print after you've bought the product?
So don't buy if you have a gas stove because if you do, you'll have melted black plastic all over your stovetop. Which is too bad because it is one good looking kettle....
Cons: Quality, stability

gotta tell you - simple - turning the flame up all the way does not make the water boil faster. this is a good kettle, use common sence, which the first reviewer may not have.
