Beautiful and Functional
January 29, 2013
We just purchased this dish in Ocean, and it is beautiful! What a lovely, heavy casserole dish! I am sure we will be enjoying this for many, many years to come. These are fantastic quality pieces that I'm sure will become heirlooms.
For the customer that complained about hers breaking: The casserole dishes specifically state they are not to be used on the stovetop, I know it looks like a Dutch Oven, but it isn't one.
If you want to cook on the stovetop you need to use the enameled Cast Iron by Le Creuset.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Easy to Clean, Easy to Store, Size, Versatile, Design, Weight

Absolutely Gorgeous Dish
January 24, 2013
Bought my first Le Creuset Casserole dish while it was on sale. I've been wanting one for a long time, but waited until they went on sale. I was very pleased with the purchase. Gorgeous cooker, almost too pretty to use (not!). Can't wait to cook in it.

Going to buy another one
January 22, 2013
Love this piece and I'm going to buy another one. For the customer who complained that it broke, Le Creuset doesn't claim that this can be used on the stovetop. It is for use in the oven, microwave and freezer, but I don't think it was meant to go stovetop. As a casserole, though, it's superb.

broke the first time I used it
November 29, 2012
I was so excited to get all my Le Creuset from my registry until I used it for the very first time on Thanksgiving. While I was making a sauce on medium high heat I heard a loud popping sound and I couldnt believe that the dish was literally breaking right in front of my eyes. I had to carefully transfer the sauce into another pan and was so surprised that it couldn't withstand the heat on its first use. Reading other reviews I see that I am not the only one who has experienced this with Le Creuset (you have to read other product reviews from this line to see this.) Will be returning all my Le Creuset after this.
Cons: Quality, if using on stove it can break from heat

Not ON the stove -- only IN the oven
Maybe you didn't read the directions about not using stoneware on a heated surface or cooktop? That is not its intended use! Perhaps, you confused your stoneware casserole with one of LeCreuset's iron French ovens which cook on top of the stove & in the oven.

Le Crueset Heritage Stoneware Casserole
To Belles NY:
The use and care instructions clearly state that the product cannot be utilized on a stovetop. It is a casserole, not a sauce pan, and should not be used on a stovetop per the instructions.

Of course not...
having cooked for more years than I care to tell you about, I learned long ago that you cannot place stoneware on direct heat. Oven, yes, but NOT DIRECT HEAT!! Williams Sonoma would do well to recognize that everyone is not an old hand in the kitchen and warn them that stoneware will break when placed on a burner.

DO NOT USE ON A STOVE TOP
this set of stoneware IS NOT made to cook on the stovetop as said on the use and care. that is why this cracked. this IS safe in the oven and microwave. this was the users fault.

Too bad!
That this comment impacts the rating of the product since the user did not use it properly. For new cooks who don't read directions/product info I suppose it ican be confusing since Le Creuset is know for their wonderful pots...I have many and love them all. I also have many of the casseroles and have used them for years without a single problem...just the difference in weight should give one a clue!

This is not the cast-iron Le Creuset.
Safe for oven, broiler, freezer and microwave. NOT stove top!

Stoneware is not for stove top
Anyone that is an advanced cook, and therefor familiar with Le Creuset, also knows that you cannot put stoneware on direct heat aka a stove top. Ahh, what a nightmare that must have been! There is nothing wrong with the brand, but misuse of the product that lead to breaking your stoneware. If you are interested in cookware to use on the stove, then pots and pans made of some sort of metal would be your best bet (or cast iron, not stoneware).

Read the Use and Care of the Product
It specifically states that you should not use this item on the stove top or another direct heat source.

Love this pot
August 27, 2012
I bought this for my daughter, and then cooked with it when I visited her. It heats evenly, looks great on the table, keeps the food hot during dinner, and cleans up easily. The lid fits well, and the handles are convenient without being too big. Love the "ocean" color, too.
Pros: Easy to Use, Quality, Easy to Clean, Easy to Store, Size, Versatile

Perfect item
March 27, 2012
I just received this item today. I must say it's the perfect size for a casserole dish, and the fact that it comes with a matching lid is nice. I also really love the "Ocean" color. I haven't used it yet, but that doesn't effect whether I like it or not. And the price for what it is, is just right. I only wish I could afford one of Le Creuset's enameled cast iron Dutch ovens that they're famous for.
Pros: Size, Design, Weight
