Le Creuset Cast-Iron Tarte Tatin Dish

This specially designed pan turns out a perfect apple tarte tatin, the classic French tart that requires both stovetop cooking and oven baking. The enameled cast-iron pan offers superior heat distribution, so the dessert emerges golden brown with a caramelized finish. 2-qt. cap. Cast iron coated with durable porcelain enamel distributes heat slowly and evenly. Easy-clean nonreactive interior does not require seasoning. Ideal for use in the oven or on any cooktop, including induction. Large side handles make it easy to invert the pan for unmolding. Vibrant, colorful exterior for stove-to-table presentation. Made in France.

Muliple uses and beautiful

This is a great addition to my Le Creuset cookware. It is obviously designed for Tarte Tatin, however it is great for gratin, baking and small roasts. It is also easy to store and easy to clean up. The color is bright and beautiful and looks lovely on the table. I'm so glad I purchased this terrific pan.

More than dessert

I really enjoy this pan. First of all, it's such a beautiful, cheery color (one of the simple pleasures of LeCreuset). Second, it's versatile. While I have not made a tart tatine (its original purpose), I have used it to make coffeecakes, as well as an impromptu galette. I primarily use it to bake fish filets in a garlic, lemon, olive oil sauce. While shallow, the sides permit the use of sauces, yet help to keep down splatters. It has been super-easy to clean. It is big enough for my purpose (cooking for one or two), but small enough that its weight and storage issues are not a problem. Perfect for the solo cook and so cheerful to look at!
