Alright for the price but no better

This item has two functions, to grind meat and to stuff sausage. It performs the first adequately, the second poorly.
As a grinder it is a bit slow but works. It goes through meat, even fairly gristly stuff quickly on the coarse disk with a minimum of clogging. The medium fine disk works for second grindings. One spends a lot of time ramming meat down the chute, but it's not too bad.
As a stuffer it's hopeless. The funnels are flimsy and broke at the base in the first couple uses. Even the powerful KA motor couldn't shove the paste through. After covering the counter with a paste of sausage I gave up and went back to the old hand stuffer.
Until they sell it with durable funnels and the ability to auger sausage into casings without a disk I can only recommend this as a grinder, not a stuffer.
Pros: Easy to Use, Speed, Assembly
Cons: Quality, Fragile

I wanted to LOVE it!!!
April 28, 2011
I had purchased this a while ago, but never got the courage to use it. I went to the Williams Sonoma sausage demo, and I went home and tried it the next day. The woman doing the demo made some sausage in the casing, and some in patties (I now know why). I ground my meat, mixed in all of my seasonings and spices, threw in some finely chopped apples (they were VERY small, but not small enough). I started filling the casings, and it was constantly getting a buildup of apples, and getting stuck. There were a TON of air pockets inside the casing as well. I will try again, but patties seem like they would be MUCH easier, and just as good!!!
Pros: Easy to Clean, Easy to Store
Cons: Quality, Speed, Power, Temperamental
