Working out of a darkroom housed in a historic Connecticut barn, award-winning photographer Jody Dole and his two sons use a 19th-century technique known as wet-plate tintype, rarely used by modern photographers, to create captivating images rich in character and detail. Each print reveals tonal differences unique to the process-no two are alike. The clipped corners on Whaling Ship and Meter Race are Dole's homage to the 19th-century technique used by photographers to fit the corners of the tin plates more easily into the camera holders and frame cases. Printed in sepia tones on archival photographic paper. Expertly framed in distressed hardwood. Limited edition prints signed by the artist. Set behind Plexiglas. Ready to hang from sawtooth hook at back. Image: 14" x 18". Overall: 15" x 19," framed. Set of 4 includes one each of Meter Race, Nantucket Light, Sconset Nantucket and Whaling Ship Charles W. Morgan. Made in USA.
