Gorgeous, But They Don't Absorb!

These are beautiful towels, lovely designs. The size is generous -- a positive. However, I was looking for more than eye candy, I wanted a working towel. Unfortunately, the towels don't absorb! Whether wiping hands or drying dishes, the water is not wicked away by the towel. I've washed them about four times now, thinking that some sort of finish would be eliminated, but no perceptible change as yet. I'm not giving up yet because they are so beautiful -- perhaps a few more launderings. Any suggestions?

Like my Aunt Helen's mother's towels

These 100% cotton towels remind me of towels my Aunt Helen's mom gave her (I inherited them) and the towels my Nana used for many years. They are generous in size, get the job done, and dry quickly. I am stocking up as I am concerned they will be discontinued, which unfortunately is what happens with so many other great products. Buy these!!!
