poorly designed

There is a fundamental design flaw in this unit. It is not stable enough to freely stand but if placed flushed against a wall the hinged door that allows access to the water reservoir cannot swing open.
To be stable and function correctly, this unit must be anchored to a wall but with at least a 1/2 in clearance from the wall - very difficult to accomplish.

Beautiful but not recommended
January 30, 2014
I received this last year for a gift and I keep mine outside. I would love to hear from someone that keeps theirs inside so if you do please let me know!
This is heavy. It's heavy before you put anything in it but once you fill it completely up with herbs and dirt it's *very* heavy. My mom had told me that to get the plants to set (she has a smaller one) you have to set it at a 30 degree angle for a few weeks. So, trying to get this propped up correctly just didn't work.
Second: I don't feel that the water drains through enough/correctly. And, if you have this outside int he summer there isn't enough water you can put in the top to keep the herbs alive. I had water the herbs directly.
Third: make no mistakes though, this is beautiful once you get it filled.
Again, if you have purchased this and use it indoors please let me know. I figured mine wouldn't work well indoors because it wouldn't get enough light.
Pros: material, Appearance
Cons: Weight, High-Maintenance, Size
